Zambia is one of the ten SADC Member States in the SADC Biodiversity Support Programme. Among the activities of the Programme is the development of regional guidelines on innovative financing mechanisms for biodiversity management.
As part of the above initiative, national consultancies on “innovative financing” were commissioned in ten SADC member States including Zambia. Results from the consultancies formed the basis for developing draft regional guidelines on the subject.
The objectives of the above regional meeting are to:
- Receive highlights on national consultancy reports on innovative financing mechanisms (IFM). The reports provided building blocks for formulating regional guidelines on the subjec
- Receive a brief on Trans Frontier Conservation Areas (TFCA). TFCAs represent an important element of regional cooperation in trans boundary natural resource management in the region.
- Review and critic the proposed regional guidelines on IFM.
The meeting will be attended by national consultants who produced the report on “innovative financing mechanisms”, National Programme Coordinators and other stakeholders from each of the respective SADC member states.
