The Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage center is a private sector initiative dedicated to providing care, medical treatment, recuperation and rehabilitation to orphaned, sick, displaced or injured native birds and animals, with the goal of returning them to their natural habitat.
In addition to treatment, the work of the Center generates valuable biological, behavioral and clinical data on these species. The mission of the orphanage center is resocialization and rehabilitation of orphaned primates, particularly chimpanzees and preservation of indigenous flora and fauna. |
In the year 2000, the Chimfushi Wildife Orphanage Center was elected by the United National Environment Programme (UNEP) to the prestigious ranks of its Global 500 Roll of Honour for outstanding contributions to the protection of the environment.
