MISSION STATEMENT
The Mission Statement of the Forestry Department is to ensure sustainable flow of wood and non-wood forest products and service while at the same time ensuring protection and maintenance of Biodiversity for the benefit of the present and future generations through active participation of all stake holders.
GOALS
In order to operationalize the mission statement, the following goals have been set for the Forestry Commission:
(1). To put in place effective forest management systems and operating structures
(2). To formulate and implement appropriate forest policies and programmes for sustainable management and use of forest resources
(3). To promote sustainable, participatory management and use of forest such that all stake holders, men, women and children take active and sustained interest towards effective conservation, production, management and utilisation of the nations forest assets
OVERALL OBJECTIVE
To enhance the quantitative and qualitative contribution of the sector towards the nation’s socio-economic development in a sustainable manner
POLICY OBJECTIVES
In order to meet the Mission Statement of the forestry sector the following specific objectives are identified

(3). Forestry Research and Extension

(6). Export of Forest Products
(7). Gender Considerations in Sustainable Management of Forest Resources
